Official Visit of Akaki Iashvili to the Chess Academy of Armenia

The Chess Academy of Armenia hosted an official visit by Akaki Iashvili, President of the Georgian Chess Federation, Chairman of the FIDE Events Commission, and Director for Special Assignments of the FIDE Management Board.

Together with Smbat Lputian — Founder-Director of the Chess Academy of Armenia, Director of the “Chess” Scientific Research Institute, First Vice President of the Chess Federation of Armenia, and Grandmaster — he met with representatives of leading institutions engaged in chess education and ознакомился with the “Chess in Schools” program, emphasizing Armenia’s leading role and the importance of international cooperation.

They also visited the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU), where the university’s activities and the “Chess” specialization were presented, along with the unique “Chess” Scientific Research Institute.

At the end of the visit, they went to a school, observed the implementation of the program, and interacted with students and teachers, confirming that chess has become an essential part of the educational process.
